When we further break down ways of reducing stress and keeping up on our immune system, we find almost everything we need to do on a daily basis falls into one or more of three categories. You need a good balance of these categories in order to maintain optimal resilience.
Recover - Repair - Replenish
When we ask most athletes about what they do for recovery they will usually go into how they spend their "rest days". What we actually mean buy this question is, how are you helping your body recover from all the stress it experiences on a daily basis? Sleep and sleep quality is by far the most effective way to support recovery and repair, but there are also highly effective activities you can do while awake. Try adding Epsom salt or ice baths, foam rolling, massage, and cupping into your weekly or monthly routine. Finally how are you replenishing what you have spent? Focus on your nutrition and try to source your food from quality vendors. Macros are important, but equality important is the micronutrient density of the food you consume.
