Date and Oatmeal Energy Balls
Looking for a quick power snack for your hike, ski trip, or enduro ride?
Skip the goos and gels and try this easy recipe for a simple carb pick me up.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Oatmeal
1 Cup Dates
1/3 Cup Chia Seeds
2 Tablespoons Agave Nectar (or liquid sweetener of your choice)
3 Tablespoons Milk (or milk substitute)
Optional And All To Taste (~1/2 tsp):
~Cinnamon
~Cardamom
~Nutmeg
~Salt
Directions:
Start by combing the dates, oatmeal, chia seeds, and a dash of your chosen spices in a food processor or blender. Mix thoroughly. Next blend in your agave. Slowly start adding in your milk. You want to find a consistency that is a thick paste (think cookie or pasta dough). Too much liquid and you’ll end up with gooey mess. While still tasty this will be hard to roll into balls. If you went to far don’t freak out! Just blend in some more oats. Additionally you can add in some of your favorite protein powder.
Roll up your “dough” into bite size balls and throw them into the fridge to set. Eat and enjoy!
